You Are Not Alone: The Psychology of Infertility

This session is for Black women, birthing people, and those who support them—partners, providers, and loved ones alike.

Participants will be able to identify common emotional responses to infertility, including grief, anxiety, depression, and disruptions to identity.

Examine the impact of stigma, systemic inequities, and cultural narratives on the infertility experiences of Black women and Black birthing individuals.

Participants will explore how racism, medical mistrust, and cultural expectations uniquely shape the psychological burden of infertility in Black communities, and will discuss strategies to provide affirming, culturally responsive care.

Discuss the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between medical and mental health providers.

Participants will understand how integrated, team-based care improves outcomes for individuals and couples navigating infertility.

Led by Erica McKinney, PhD ,this session creates a compassionate space to reflect, learn, and explore ways to support the full emotional experience of infertility ~ affirms, not blames.
